Pitigliano
Pitigliano is one of the areas in the zone that you absolutely must visit. The most recently constructed part of the village is on your right as you come from Saturnia, while the zone of real interest is on the left, featuring an entire medieval hamlet that is still practically intact today.
The ancient bridge and the often rickety houses are truly extraordinary and date back to medieval times. They stand in a row overlooking the sheer drop below.
The scenic route offers an attractive view of the village from a distance. The entire medieval hamlet is often skilfully illuminated by night and we recommend enjoying the view by sunset, or when illuminated at night, from the scenic route.
The area around Pitigliano includes numerous archaeological and cultural sites to visit, in addition to a wide range of accommodation and restaurants.
It is not unrealistically far from the Spa, although we certainly couldn’t say that the Spa is just a stone’s throw away. Like Sovana, Pittigliano is therefore an ideal place to stay if you don’t intend to visit the Spa on a daily basis, but prefer to alternate with trips and excursions to other interesting sites in the area.
